We ran the host you already trusted.
For twelve years we kept thousands of high-traffic Magento stores online through peak traffic, product launches, and everything in between. Over a thousand customers put it in writing: 4.9 stars.

FIRSTS
Seven things we did first.
Seven industry firsts from twelve years of running Magento stores. Most of them became standard across serious hosting providers. One of them mattered more than anyone knew at the time.
- 01
First Magento host on SSD
We moved Magento to SSD storage before it became the industry standard.
- 02
A real person in fifteen minutes, before anyone else would promise it.
- 03
First faster-or-free guarantee
If we didn't make your store faster, you didn't pay.
- 04
We guaranteed time to first byte before anyone else would.
- 05
The only host to ever patch Magento for customers
We applied security and core patches for customers instead of sending instructions. Handing merchants the fix was our signature move, fifteen years before AI made it scalable.
- 06
Founded the Mage Security Council
We helped define security standards for the Magento ecosystem.
- 07
Hosted Meet Magento New York
Five years leading the East Coast Magento community.
Every store owner knows the moment.
The store is slow, sales are slipping, and everyone they ask says the server is fine. We spent fifteen years on the other side of that ticket queue, and the honest answer to "why is my store slow" needed a different platform.
We built the platform that answers it.
HOW WE GOT HERE
Why we built it.
2015
The Idea
Hosting wasn't solving the real problem.
Even while we were building MageMojo, we knew traditional hosting had a problem. Traditional hosting could tell whether a server was running. It couldn't explain why a store was slowing down or how to fix it. We wanted a platform that found the problem, explained it clearly, and helped solve it.
The idea was clear. The technology wasn't. We explored machine learning years before AI was ready, but the tools simply couldn't understand applications the way they can today. So we put the idea on hold.
2024
The Breakthrough
Then the technology arrived.
In 2024, we built Replift, an AI tool designed to help engineers find problems faster and keep valuable technical knowledge from being lost. While building it, we realized AI could finally understand code, logs, and infrastructure together.
That changed everything. The platform we'd imagined back in 2015 was finally possible, so we stopped thinking about a support tool and started building synsmarts.
Now
The Platform
The platform we always imagined.
We built synsmarts around two principles.
synsmarts reads logs, traces, metrics, and application code together, then sends a diagnostic that explains what broke, why it happened, and how to fix it.
Works with the AI tools you already use.
Connect your developers and AI assistants to the same platform for deployments, diagnostics, rollbacks, and infrastructure management.
We sold MageMojo in 2021, and building Replift showed us AI had finally caught up to the job. So we built synsmarts. We didn't set out to be your landlord. We set out to help your store sell more.
Work with us as a partnerTHE FOUNDING TEAM
From MageMojo to synsmarts.
Eric Hileman and Martin Pachol founded MageMojo in 2009, ran it until the sale in 2021, launched Replift in 2024, and are now bringing everything they learned together in synsmarts.
Two founders, twelve years of running stores for other people, and one platform built to answer the question a ticket queue never could.

Questions about us.
View all FAQs →What happened to MageMojo?
We founded MageMojo in 2009 and ran it until we sold it in 2021. The name and the customers went with the sale. What did not go with it is the two of us, the way we ran support, and the fifteen-year list of problems hosting never solved. synsmarts is what we built with all three.
Are the founders running synsmarts day to day?
Yes. Eric and Martin run the company, answer the escalations, and sign off on every diagnosis the platform sends. There is no layer between you and the people who built it.
Where is the company?
synsmarts is Synthetic Smarts, Inc., a New York company, with the platform on AWS in the United States and a second region for recovery. The team works across US time zones and a person answers around the clock.
Why open-source stores only?
Because that is where the problem lives. A SaaS store cannot be slow in a way you can fix; an open-source store can, and for fifteen years nobody would tell the merchant why. We know these applications down to the file and the line, and that is the whole point of the platform.
